Better Broadband Scheme

Northamptonshire County Council is working with Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) to promote the Better Broadband  Voucher Scheme. This is a UK-wide government subsidy scheme to provide an affordable, basic broadband installation to homes and businesses experiencing the poorest speeds and which will not benefit from the superfast broadband roll out within the next 12 months.

If you currently experience download speeds of less than 2 Megabits per second (Mbps), the Better Broadband Voucher Scheme may be able to help you access a basic broadband service that will offer download speeds of at least 10 Mbps.

The Scheme provides a voucher worth up to £350 (via a registered service provider) for basic broadband installation to homes and businesses which are eligible.

The Better Broadband Scheme was due to close on 31 December 2018.  BDUK has extended it until 31st December 2019 to ensure that a subsidised basic broadband installation remains available to eligible applicants.

Since its launch in December 2015, the scheme has boosted the broadband speeds of more than 20,000 homes and businesses in some of the hardest to reach areas of the UK.

Households and businesses that are eligible to take advantage of the scheme have the installation and hardware costs of their connection subsidised to ensure their first year costs are no more than £400.
