Better Broadband Scheme

The Government is committed to giving access to at least 2Mbps download speed to every premise in the UK by the end of 2015. As part of this Northamptonshire County Council, in conjunction with Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK), are delivering a Better Broadband subsidy scheme (originally named the Satellite Broadband Voucher Scheme). This scheme contributes towards the equipment and installation of a better broadband connection.

Superfast Northamptonshire is opening up the scheme to premises that are currently not able to access internet speeds of more than 2Mbps. The Scheme is a basic broadband measure which is being offered whilst the plans for superfast broadband continue to roll out and be extended towards the County Council’s full coverage target - the Scheme aims to help people experiencing some of the slowest broadband speeds in the county in areas where fibre solutions are still a little way off or yet to be confirmed

Simply complete the application form below, answer the questions and the team will determine whether you are eligible for the Scheme. This will depend on what services are currently available to you and whether or not you will be in the build plan for superfast  fibre broadband in the near future. If you wish to find out more about the fibre build in Northamptonshire, go to the When and Where map and Roll Out Schedule.

If you cannot view the Application Form below please email

Please note that completing an application form does not tie you into taking up a service.  If you are eligible then you have the opportunity to consider the broadband services available and whether you wish to take up a service using your voucher. There will be a range of services to choose from with varying speeds, data limits and prices offered by a number of providers who have signed up to the scheme. However, once you have ordered a service from a registered broadband provider you will be bound by the terms of the service contract you sign with that supplier.

To check your broadband line speed please click here.  For the most accurate results, you are advised to use your landline phone number.  However, if you do not have a landline you can use the "Address Checker".  This shows what speed of service should be available to you, not the speed of service you may currently receive. This may be limited by the broadband service you have purchased.  If this shows your broadband speed to be less than 2Mbps then you may be eligible for the scheme.
