Targets and funding

Please refer to the 'Working with BT' website page. The County Council has two contracts with BT which were agreed in March 2013 (Stage 1) and November 2014 (Stage 2). Together these are expected to provide access to superfast broadband to around 23% of premises in the county - that's more than 74,250 premises. Find out more about Building the Network  on the project website and the 'Network Build and Technologies' FAQ . These plans along with commercial telecoms investment takes us over 95% towards our full coverage target..

Any areas which remain unable to access fibre broadband services following a fibre upgrade should remain in scope of the Superfast Northamptonshire project and the County Council will continue to seek solutions through Stage 3 of the project.

The County Council signed two contracts with Gigaclear in January 2017.  These will provide access to ultrafast broadband (up to 1Gbps) to around 6,300 rural premises in the county. Find out more on the Working with Gigaclear page.  These plans along with Stages 1 and 2 and commercial telecoms investment takes us over 98% coverage by the end of 2018.

Any areas which remain unable to access fibre broadband remain in scope of the Superfast Northamptonshire project and the County Council will continue to seek solutions through other Stage 3 measures.

The County Council has now secured commitments of £22m in public investment to support the project as a whole and its progress towards achieving a full coverage target.

To see how much of this is currently invested across the three Stages secured to date, please refer to the Working with BT and Working with Gigaclear pages.
